James Corden, do programa The Lale Late Show, foi a Liverpool para um dia especial com Paul McCartney e lá visitaram a casa da infância de Paul, onde ele compunha músicas com John Lennon, visitaram Penny Lane e a “Barber Shop” citada na música, tocaram em um “pub” local e, claro, andando de carro e cantando alguns dos maiores sucessos dos Beatles.
O programa foi ao ar em 21 de junho de 2018.

De carona com o apresentador, Paul McCartney mostrou a Liverpool de sua infância e deu um concerto improvisado, com músicas imortalizadas pelos Beatles, como Hey Jude, perante uma multidão emocionada pela sua presença.
Paul McCartney fez historia ao subir no carro para o “Carpool Karaoke” do programa com o britânico James Corden, para um quadro em que mostraram a Liverpool de sua infância e deu um concerto improvisado, com os sucessos dos Beatles como Hey Jude, encerrando em grande estilo os 20 minutos mais emotivos e celebrados do programa.

O quadro faz parte do The Late Late show de James Corder, um programa de humor realizado em cadeia com a CBS, que já passou uma série de episódios especiais no Reino Unido.
O apresentador realizou um passeio com o mítico baixista dos Beatles pela cidade de origem da banda, que é Liverpool, a Noroeste da Inglaterra. Foi um encontro que começou com os dois cantando o clássico “Drive my Car”.
O segundo clássico que interpretaram foi Penny Lane, e em seguida se aproximaram da rua que originou o nome da música (Paul deixou um autógrafo no muro), entraram novamente no carro, passando pela igreja onde os pais de Paul se casaram, e pararam no Salão de Beleza imortalizado no primeiro verso da canção (Barber Shop), em cuja parede havia uma fotografia de um John Lennon ainda jovem tendo os cabelos cortados por Paul McCartney.
Na saída do local, uma multidão se aglomerava para saudar a lenda viva, que não teve dúvidas em apertar a mão dos mais fanáticos.
De volta ao carro, McCartney confessou que esperavam que os Beatles durariam “apenas 10 anos”, porém estão aí e continuam sendo relevantes.

As primeiras lágrimas chegaram quando um emocionado Corden explicou que havia escutado “Let it Be” pela primeira vez junto com seu avô, que foi quem lhe disse que aquela era a melhor canção da historia, acrescentando que ele “estaria emocionadíssimo com isso”.

Depois os dois foram até a casa onde McCartney morou na sua adolescência e lá recordou e mostrou o lugar onde costumava escrever com Lennon, e os comentários de seu pai sobre uma das primeiras canções da dupla Lennon & McCartney, que foi She Loves You.

Para finalizar, Corden orquestrou uma magistral aparição do músico em um dos “pubs” da cidade.
Paul McCartney surgiu com sua banda atual por detrás das cortinas e começou a tocar vários sucessos dos Beatles como “A Hard Days Night”, “Obladi Oblada”, “Love me Do”, que foi o primeiro single da mítica banda que mudou a historia da música no mundo.

Para terminar, o músico pediu a Corden que se juntasse a ele para cantarem juntos “Hey Jude”, diante de uma multidão emocionada com a presença de McCartney no local, que ainda hoje levanta paixões, tanto que a aparição do Beatle Paul McCartney no programa já está sendo considerada nas Redes Sociais como uma das melhores da historia.
